Veterans Initiative

A key goal of the Veterans Initiative is to increase positive public awareness of the achievements of our members who have gone on to be successful in civilian life following military service. Union League veterans took center stage on March 19, at the first annual Veterans of Influence Awards, sponsored by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Veterans Initiative Chair and Army vet, Mary L. Hagy, worked with the Journal to develop the awards, and served as a judge on the selection panel. Four members were honored at the breakfast, which was held at the Union League:

Alex Gorsky, Army, CEO, Johnson & Johnson – Guest of Honor and Speaker
Michael Maher, Navy, Entrepreneur and Chairman, Benjamin’s Desk
Lloyd Remick, Esq., Army, Zane Management
Jack Thomas Tomarchio, Army, President, Agoge Group. LLC
BRAVO ZULU!

Reminder: Your gently-used professional attire can help a veteran look his or her best in the interview, and get that job. The Veterans Initiative Professional Attire Drive Committee, chaired by Michael Muscarella, will be accepting clean and modern professional clothing for men and women on Monday, May 18, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the League. On May 19, the Committee, in partnership with Drexel University, will distribute the clothing to more than 1,000 student veterans and vets from our 45 community partner service organizations.
